Steam Set to Break New Record with 8,100 Game Releases YTD

Steam Set to Break New Record with 8,100 Game Releases YTD

Each year, Steam is flooded with fresh game titles, and their number just keeps climbing. In 2024 alone, the platform`s game library exploded adding nearly 16,500 new titles, a stunning 41% year‑over‑year increase and the highest number ever. But it looks like Steam might top that even sooner than expected.

According to data presented by SkinsLuck.com, the platform has already launched a whopping 8,199 new titles year-to-date, slightly more than in the same period last year, putting 2025 on track to set a new all-time high.

New Game Launches Skyrocketed by Nearly 80% Since 2020

Despite rising competition from console and PC titles, and a slowdown in gaming revenue overall, Steam is still going strong. A big part of its success lies in its massive, loyal fanbase that’s constantly hungry for new gaming titles and experiences. Since its launch in 2003, the platform has steadily grown its annual game releases, with 2019 being the only dip, until 2024 took things to a whole new level, and brought more new games and downloads than ever before.

Thanks to AI-powered tools and simpler publishing processes, it’s never been easier for developers to bring their games to Steam. At the same time, millions of players are always searching for new, exciting titles and gaming experiences, and this perfect storm of growing supply and demand has pushed Steam’s game count to all-time highs.

According to SteamSpy, the platform added more than 16,400 new titles in 2024, marking a whopping 41% jump from the previous year. That is also three times the growth seen in 2023, which brought 11,500 new titles, and five times bigger than the jump in 2022, which saw 10,100 new Steam games.

While 16,400 titles released in 2024 is impressive on its own, 2025 could break the record even earlier. Stats show that Steam has already added 8,199 new titles year-to-date, slightly more than in the same period last year, putting it on track to set a new all-time high.

Total Steam Game Count Jumps over 100,000

With last year’s record-breaking 16,411 new titles and another 8,199 added in the first half of this year, Steam`s total game count has hit a jaw-dropping 100,000, with the platform adding an average of 400 games per month.

While players now have more games to choose from on Steam than ever, it’s a different story for developers - with a flood of new content it has become much harder to get noticed. Statistics show only about 20% of titles released in the past years made it past Steam’s “limited” status, meaning most didn’t gain enough traction to unlock full platform features. And even fewer of these titles become true money-makers, something every game creator aims for.
