Cloud Gaming Revenues to Surge 173% by 2030, Growing 8x Faster Than Most Other Gaming Segments

In 2025, the global gaming industry is expected to gross more than half a trillion dollars for the first time, with most of that revenue coming from mobile games, gaming hardware, and in-game advertising. Although cloud gaming is expected to account for less than 2% of total market revenue, this small segment of the gaming industry is poised for impressive triple-digit growth in the years ahead, outpacing every other part of the industry. According to data presented by Skinsluck.com, cloud gaming revenues are expected to surge 173% by 2030.

Cloud Gaming to Grow 5x Faster Than Mobile, and 8x Faster Than Online, Physical, and Streaming

Cloud gaming has removed the need for expensive consoles and high-end PCs, allowing players to stream blockbuster titles on nearly any device. Its mix of accessibility, affordability, and technology, combined with the rise of subscription models and the rollout of 5G and faster broadband has turned cloud gaming into the fastest-growing segment of the gaming industry, leaving all other parts of the market far behind. Statista data show just how big that gap is.

In 2025, the cloud gaming segment is expected to generate $10.5 billion in revenue, up from $7 billion in 2024. However, this figure is expected to skyrocket by 173% and hit $28.6 billion by 2030. This triple-digit growth is even more impressive when compared with other parts of the market. Mobile games, the industry`s largest and highest-grossing segment, will see only one-fifth of that growth, rising by 30% to $164 billion over the next five years.

Other market segments lag even more behind. For instance, online games and game livestreaming are projected to grow by 26% and 23%, respectively, or eight times less than cloud games. Physical video games are projected to grow at just 20% over the next five years and reach $41 billion in revenue by 2030.

The average revenue per user in the cloud gaming segment is also set to surge in this period. According to Statista projections, gamers worldwide will spend an average of $22.9 on cloud gaming in 2025, a figure expected to jump to over $56 by 2030.

Over Half a Billion People to Play Cloud Games by 2030

Besides impressive revenue growth, the cloud gaming segment will also see its user base reach new all-time highs, adding around 50 million new users by the end of the decade. While this marks a considerable drop compared to growth rates between 2021 and 2024, when the market added roughly 100 million new users each year, the segment is still on track to reach a historic milestone.

Statista expects the total number of people playing cloud games to hit 505 million by 2030, five times their count back in 2021, and 13 times more than in 2017, showing just how quickly cloud gaming has gone from niche to one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.
